A suburban district in Swansea, Fforstfach developed during the Victorian era as part of the city’s expansion. It is home to several collieries and lies within the Cockett ward, between Waunarlwydd and Cwmbwrla. Developed around the Fforestfach Crossroads, the village of Fforestfach grew up around the A483 Carmarthen Road and A4216 road from Cockett.
Now, Fforestfach is a residential area with light industry and a retail park. It is close to the M4 motorway and several dual carriageways.
Some factories, such as those belonging to Corgi Toys and Walkers Crisps, have ceased their operations in the area, but local amenities like the City of Swansea Gymnastic Club and Ravenhill Park remain.
